Our first night in Reykjavik we had made reservations at the Aurora Guesthouse with a large attic room for three.
We found it in a very European looking neighborhood near downtown and lucked into a parking spot in a city with very little parking. Check in was all online and we went into reception to pickup the key.
That night we figured out how to use the Icelandic electricity with our adapters and converters and multi-port USB phone charger. Their outlets are circularly indented, so our flat converters even with the right type of prongs needed extenders to plug in. Luckily I had a kit with everything we needed to be "Plugged In". Along with free wireless we were all set.The beds were made with a bottom sheet and a top feather comforter - very European, with a very comfortable mattress, and it was very good to be flat after the previous night on the airplane. Ahh!
In the morning we found breakfast in the reception area. So what do Icelanders eat for breakfast? Hot boiled eggs, homemade bread with jams, cold sliced ham and cheese, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, and CHOCOLATE COOKIES! Served with hot coffee, milk, and apple juice, we enjoyed our breakfast.
